Our Story
We're Katie and Luke, the founders of Wild Finca. Six years ago, we embarked on a journey to transform an old dairy farm into a thriving sanctuary for nature. Through innovative and sustainable land management practices, we've created a haven for 113 bird species, 30 mammal species, including 16 bat species. Our efforts have also sparked a floral renaissance, with species like the Autumn’s Lady’s Tresses orchid flourishing.
Our mission is simple: to show that even small patches of land can become thriving ecosystems. We believe that anyone, anywhere, can contribute to the revival of our natural world with passion, dedication, and creativity.

At Wild Finca, 'Rewilding' is interpreted as the process of restoring and protecting natural processes and core wilderness areas, providing connectivity between such areas, and safeguarding wildlife. It's about allowing nature to take care of itself as much as possible, while also recognising humans as part of the ecosystem. This involves repairing damaged ecosystems and restoring degraded landscapes.
Through rewilding, the natural rhythms of wildlife create wilder, more biodiverse habitats. Our aim with rewilding is not only the restoration of ecosystems to their natural functioning with a full suite of appropriate species, but also the integration of sustainable organic food production and provision of livelihoods where land is suitable. This holistic approach ensures a balance between nature conservation and human needs.
Wild Finca serves as a home for a family, emphasizing the concept of lived land shared by both people and wildlife. This unique perspective challenges the criticism that rewilding displaces individuals from the land. In essence, by revitalizing a derelict farm, Wild Finca can be viewed as repopulating the landscape, bridging the gap between human habitation and ecological restoration. Addressing the contentious issue of depopulation and the perception of abandoned farmland in Spain.
Wild Finca is committed to an educational mission, aiming to expand its outreach in this area. While the traditional definition of rewilding may not explicitly encompass educational initiatives, the integration of education into rewilding practices is a significant enhancement. Education not only benefits nature but also represents a valuable utilization of the land, aligning with the ethos of Wild Finca's multifaceted approach to rewilding.
